HAJDÚ-BIHARI GRAFIKAI MŰVÉSZTELEP
1996 októberben művészbarátainkkal megalapítottuk a Hajdú-Bihari Grafikai Művésztelepet a Derecskei Művelődési Központban.
A térség művészeti életében újító szándékú kezdeményezést Derecske városa, Debrecen Város Önkormányzata, és debreceni nyomdai vállalkozások támogatták.
A művésztelep az évszázados debreceni grafikai hagyományokra alapozta fogalmazta meg alapelveit, amelyek lényeges eleme, hogy a grafikai hagyományokat követve kortárs grafikusművészeknek kínáljon alkotási lehetőséget.
Ez az elképzelés a debreceni grafika hagyománya és a jelen között teremt művészeti hidat.
Fontos alapelveink közé tartozik az alkotói szabadság tisztelete is, ezért semmilyen alkotói szemléletet befolyásoló műfaji keretet, koncepciót nem határoztunk meg a telep működésében.
A rendszerváltást követően, s még a művésztelepünk alapításának idején is egyre szaporodtak a művésztelepek Hajdú-Bihar megyében is, de ilyen- jellegében szakirányú-művésztelep, mint a derecskei, csak ritkán alakult.
Az elmúlt tizenkét év során hatalmas utat jártunk be. Az első telepet még minimálisfelszereltséggel kezdtük meg, de minden évben sikerült bővíteni a lehetőségeinket.
Tíz éves jubileumi kiállításunkat a gödöllői Királyi Kastélyban rendeztük 2006 őszén.

A telepen rézkarcot, hidegtűk, papír- és textilnyomatok, egyedi rajzok, litográfiák, fametszetek, vegyes technikával készült nyomatok, kollázsok készülnek.
A művésztelepen létrejövő munkákat záró kiállításon mutatjuk be az érdeklődő közönségnek és a sajtónak.
A város tulajdonába kerülő grafikai lapok magas művészi színvonalat képviselnek. A művésztelepen résztvevőalkotók szavazatai alapján a legrangosabbnak ítélt teljesítmény megkapja Debrecen kiváló grafikusművészéről, Móré Mihályról elnevezett szakmai díjat.
A Hajdú- Bihari Grafikai Művésztelep tizenkét éves működése során a művészek felajánlása révén több mint négyszáz grafikai lap került fő támogatónk Derecske város tulajdonába.
E jelentős kortárs grafikai gyűjteményből különböző kiállítások keretében láthat válogatást a közönség.
In October 1996, we founded the Colony of Graphic Artists of Hajdú-Bihar together with some artist friends in the Community Centre of Derecske. The initiative, which had innovative intentions in the artistic life of the region, was supported by the town of Derecske, the Local Government of Debrecen and several priting enterprises in Debrecen.
The artists ’ colony reaches back to the agelong traditions of graphic arts of Debrecen, an important element of which is that, following the traditions of graphic arts, it wishes to present an opportunity for the contemporary graphic artists to work. This idea creates an artistic bridge between the traditions of graphic arts of Debrecen and the present. One of our important principles is the respect for the freedom of the artist, and for this reason, we do not set any limitations on genres or conceptions that would influence the artists’ views in the activities of the colony.
Following the change of regime, and even at the time of the foundation of our colony, several other similar initiatives were realized in Hajdú-Bihar Country; however, artists’ colonies such as ours, specialized in their nature, were rarely established. In the past twelve years we have come a long way. We started our first colony with minimal equipment, but we managed to enhance our opportunities each year.
The exhibition to celebrate our tenth anniversary was held in the autumn of 2006 in the Royal Castle of Gödöllő.
The Colony of Graphic Artists of Hajdú-Bihar is open every summer, from the end of June till the beginning of July, hosting 13-15 guest artists. Etched engravings, dry points, paper and textile prints, unique drawings, lithographs, wood engravings and prints made with different techniques and collages are created at the colony. The works of art are showcased to the public and to the press each year at the closing exhibition. The graphic sheets which become the town’s property represent high artistic quality.
Based on the votes of the artists participating at the colony, the artwork that is considered to represent the highest standard is awarded the Mihály Móré Prize, named after an outstanding graphic artist of Debrecen.
During the twelve years of existence of the Colony of Graphic Artists of Hajdú-Bihar more than four hundred graphic sheets have come into the possession of our main sponsor, the town of Derecske. The public can see a selection of this significant collection of contemporary graphic arts in different exhibitions.
